Privacy Policy

Pastimes is a personal activity-journaling app that helps you remember when you last did things. This policy explains what information the app handles and how your privacy is protected. It applies to the Pastimes iOS app published by Gunnar Gunderson (“we,” “us,” “our”).
The short version
Your Pastimes data lives only in your private iCloud account. It’s never sent to us or to anyone else, and we have no way to access it. We don’t run analytics, show ads, or track you.
What Pastimes stores
Pastimes stores the information you enter so it can show your history later:
- The activities you create (titles, notes, icons, categories, favorites, goals, and reminder settings).
- The events you log for each activity (when something happened and any notes you add).
- Optional location information, if you choose to add it (see below).
Where your data is stored
Pastimes uses Apple’s iCloud (CloudKit) to keep your data in your own private iCloud database, tied to the Apple Account signed in on your device. This is what syncs your data across your devices and backs it up.
We never receive a copy of this data and cannot read it. It isn’t stored on any server we control, and there’s no account system — there’s nothing for us to log in to or look at. Your iCloud data is handled under Apple’s Privacy Policy and Apple’s iCloud terms.
Location
Location is optional and off by default. If you enable it, Pastimes can:
- Record where an event happened when you log it, and
- Use geofences to remind you about (or automatically log) an activity when you arrive at a location you’ve set.
Location is processed on your device through Apple’s location services, and any location you save is stored in your private iCloud alongside the rest of your data — never sent to us. Turning location off in iOS Settings stops all of this. Searching for a specific address for a saved location is performed by Apple’s services.
Notifications
If you turn on reminders, Pastimes schedules local notifications on your device. They’re generated and delivered on-device, not routed through us or any third party.
What we don’t do
- We don’t collect, receive, or sell your data.
- We don’t use analytics, advertising, or tracking SDKs.
- We don’t share your data with third parties (other than Apple’s iCloud, which stores it for you).
- We don’t require an account, email address, or sign-in.
Your control over your data
You can edit or delete any activity or event at any time inside the app. To remove everything, you can delete Pastimes’ data from iCloud in iOS Settings, or delete your iCloud data through your Apple Account. Because we hold no copy, removing it from your iCloud removes it completely.
Changes to this policy
If we make changes, we’ll update the policy posted here and revise the effective date above.
