What’s this thing for? What are some example activities I would want to track?

Pastimes helps you keep track of when you did the things you do in life. You could log the last time you called your best friend. Or the last time you tried a new restaurant. Or when you changed your guitar strings. With location services enabled, you can even have it automatically count the number of times per week you go in to the office if you need to keep track of that sort of thing.

Well, no, not really. It can be used that way though and it does have optional goal-tracking, notifications, and more. But we like to think of it more like a diary than a scoreboard.

What exactly is “Pastimes Forever”?

Pastimes is free to use with up to 5 activities. Pastimes Forever is an in-app purchase that allows you to create as many activities as you like, so you can log anything and everything. And maybe future goodies will be unlocked with Forever, too.

What features am I missing out on if I don't have Pastimes Forever?

Without the Pastimes Forever in-app purchase, you're just limited to 5 total activities. Aside from that, all functionality of the app related to logging, recalling, syncing, notifications, and more are available all the time and stored in your iCloud forever.

If I don’t have Pastimes Forever, do my archived and trashed activities count toward the free 5-activity limit?

Pastimes Forever is a one-time purchase, not a subscription. We don't want it to feel like you're renting your journal data. The price seems reasonable to us for keeping track of all your stuff "forever", not to mention those handy free app updates you will get along the way.
